Meet the Cumberland Animal Hospital Staff

Charles Allen, Practice Manager

Charles is from Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. He is a 2008 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University.  Working in the veterinary field since 2000. Charles brings over 20 years of experience to the management of our practice. In 2004, he married his high school sweetheart, Checotah. They have two children, Colt and Carly and a sweet four-legged princess named Jojo. In his free time, Charles enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and kids.

Kayla Barkley, Care Coordinator

Kayla is from Mount Juliet Tennessee. Her favorite part about working at Cumberland Animal Hospital is that she gets to meet new pets and their owners and form new relationships with them. Kayla has one dog named Roscoe and her hobbies include camping, kayaking, and traveling. She also volunteers with Animal Rescue Corps.

Chapel Burns, Care Coordinator

Chapel is from Lebanon, Tennessee and is currently in college pursuing a degree in Nursing. One of her favorite parts about working at Cumberland Animal Hospital is being able to interact with people and their pets.

Chapel has two beautiful daughters, Amiyah Grace and Aralynn Nicole and they have one dog named Oscar. Her favorite hobbies include shopping for her kids, cooking new things and singing.

Lisa Wiggs, Care Coordinator

Lisa is from Franklin, Tennessee and moved to Lebanon in 2015. She and her husband are parents to Chloe, the fuzzy Beagle. They are volunteers for Music City Greyhound Adoption and have fostered over 50 retired racing greyhounds since 2005. Lisa is a member of American Coaster Enthusiasts and has ridden over 200 roller coasters.

Joey Mathias, Veterinary Technician

Joey has 4 pets and is from Mount Juliet. His favorite part about working at Cumberland Animal Hospital is getting to pet dogs. Joey’s favorite hobbies include tabletop games. A fun fact about Joey is that he was a Vocal Music Education Major in college.

Kim Carlson, Veterinary Technician

Kim is originally from Nashville but she has lived in Mount Juliet since 2005. Kim’s favorite parts about Cumberland Animal Hospital are being part of a great family and getting to care for clients fur babies. She has a bearded dragon named Fire and a pitbull named Knox. She has an amazing daughter named Kaitlyn, she learned the true meaning of love in 2010 when she was born. Kim’s favorite hobbies include kayaking, hiking and anything outdoors.

Stephanie Lancaster, Veterinary Technician

Stephanie is from Lebanon, Tennessee. She has worked at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine while she attended college. She then moved to New Mexico before moving back to Lebanon to be close to her family. Her favorite part about working at Cumberland Animal Hospital is knowing that she can make a difference in people’s lives by helping their animals live a happy, healthy life. She has one dog, Jack Daniels an Australian Shepard, two cats, Jack and Jeffrey, and two horses, Belle and Layla. Her favorite hobbies include trail riding and hiking with the dogs.

Taylor Huckaby, Veterinary Technician

Taylor is from Mount Juliet, Tennessee and she has one dog named Lacie. Her favorite part about working at Cumberland Animal Hospital is that she gets to help people take care of their babies and is able to help educate clients when the come for new patient visits. Her hobbies include crafting and decorating and she also has 20 plus chickens and 20 plus quail.

Krissy Hall, Veterinary Technician

Krissy was born in Pensacola, Florida and raised in Lebanon, Tennessee. She loves all parts of her job here at Cumberland Animal Hospital but the most important thing for her that she loves animals so being able to speak for them and care for them and have their trust to do so makes her day. It is never boring since in the vet industry you never experience the same day twice. Krissy has one sweet handsome cat named Nugget. She has 6 sisters and she enjoys movies, shopping, interior design and outdoor activities such as kayaking, hiking, and camping.

Heather Hunt, Groomer

Heather is one of our Groomers here at The Board Room. Her favorite part about working at The Board Room is that she makes so many furry friends! She also enjoys the versatility and technical aspects of grooming all of the different breeds. She has a passion for rescuing and rehabilitating pets as well. She is originally from Morrow, Georgia before she moved to Tennessee in 2003. Heather has one son and they have 6 dogs, 2 cats and 1 African Grey Parrot. Her hobbies include crafting, music, and piano.

Sarah Naff, Groomer

Sarah is from Hermitage, TN, and moved to Lebanon in 2016. She has two cats, Mae and Nori, and one dog, Kansas. Her favorite hobbies include back country camping, hiking, kayaking, and nature photography. She also enjoys traveling, concerts, and going out to dinner with friends. She has an absolute passion for animals, and takes a special interest in creative grooming and Asian fusion styles.

D’Ana Mallory, Kennel Attendant

D’Ana is from Gallatin, Tennessee. Her family includes her daughter Kinsley who was born in 2017 and her horse and dog. Her hobbies are riding horses, photography and training animals. Her favorite part about working at Cumberland Animal Hospital is the animals and the bonds developed with the animals. Every day is different and there are multiple careers in the animal field. A fun fact about D’Ana is that she enjoys barrel racing.

Shellie Powell

Shellie is a Gladeville local who graduated from Wilson Central High School in 2004 and went on the further her education at Vol State. Shellie has 3 cats named Harlow, Penny, and Jiggy and one Beagle named Rip. She has two brothers and two beautiful nieces named Nichole and Bailey

Meara Melton

Meara is from Watertown, Tennessee. Her favorite part of the job is meeting new people and their pets. She grew up in a large family and has many pets of her own, which include a cat, dog, gecko, two ferrets and several birds. In her free time, she loves gardening, reading, painting, and caring for all her animals.
