Cumberland Animal Hospital is equipped with a state-of-the-art surgical suite within our hospital. Our compassionate doctors are highly trained in all types of surgery including spay and neuter, exploratory, orthopedic and tumor removal for example.
Before your pet has surgery, a complete physical exam will be done by our veterinarian and any pre-op blood work and lab studies will be completed at this time. On the day of surgery a baseline of vital signs will be taken and anesthesia will be administered to your pet. During surgery your pet will be constantly monitored by a member of our staff while the doctor performs the procedure. If necessary, x-rays will be taken during surgery to guide the doctor in healing your pet. Once the surgery is completed, your pet will be brought out of anesthesia and kept warm and comfortable and pain medications will be administered as needed. Some surgeries require an overnight stay with our facility in order to ensure the stability of your pet. Once surgery is complete, a member of the staff at Cumberland will call you to let you know the status of your loved animal companion.
Cumberland Animal Hospital is pleased to offer not only the latest surgical knowledge for our patients, but the latest surgical techniques as well–Laser Surgery. What is laser surgery? Laser is an acronym for Light Activation by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Essentially, instead of using a scalpel to create an incision, a laser is used to make necessary cuts. Laser surgery is clean, efficient and often more suitable to recovery and healing than traditional surgical methods.
